Joshua Head is a violist from Colorado Springs, Colorado, who has witnessed the transformative effects of music in many different places. In the past decade, Mr. Head has performed domestically in 20 states and around the world to Japan, Ecuador, and Norway. While abroad, he played for the King of Norway in the Oslo Opera House as the principal violist of the St. Olaf Orchestra. Additionally, he has performed in some of the finest concert venues in the United States, including Severance Hall and Orchestra Hall (Minneapolis). Joshua has also had the privilege to accompany Sarah Chang performing the Sibelius Violin Concerto at Carnegie Hall and Bucknell University. As a soloist himself, Joshua has performed “Delights and Dances” by Michael Abels with the St. Olaf Orchestra, and was also a finalist in the 2020 St. Olaf Senior Soloists competition. Joshua currently performs with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, and has also played with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, the Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra, and the St. Olaf Orchestra as principal violist. He also plays regularly at various churches, including Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Benedict, and St. Gabriel the Archangel, as he is passionate about reinvigorating sacred music. Joshua recently graduated with a Masters Degree in Viola Performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where he studied with Victoria Chiang, preceded by his Bachelor of Music (Summa Cum Laude) in Viola Performance from St. Olaf College, where he studied with Charles Gray.
