Supports advanced string musicians who seek to experience a broader range of repertoire and develop musicianship and ensemble skills in a chamber style setting. Musicians can look forward to exploring repertoire throughout the ages.

String Orchestra
Age: 11-18
Suzuki Book 2+
Welcoming intermediate string musicians who are looking to play in an orchestra setting. Musicians will enjoy exploring various works while learning to play in a group setting.
BEGINNER STRINGS
Crossroads Beginner Strings
NO AUDITION NECESSARY

3:15-4:15 p.m. beginning September 18, 2023
Beginner String Program
Age: 7-12
Open to children ages 7+ who would like to explore the world of music through a string instrument. Learn the basics of instrument set-up, sound production, proper bow hold, reading music, and learning short songs. Registered students will experience 50 minutes of instruction and 10 minutes of fellowship. There will be a Winter and Spring concert.
Crossroads Beginner Strings Tuition:
* $265 per semester (September to December or January to May)
* Full tuition due by first rehearsal on September 18, 2023
* $75.00 non-refundable deposit due upon registration to hold your spot
* Tuition includes: 1 hour weekly instruction, music, and t-shirt
* Musicians will be sized and assigned to an instrument
* Note: Instrument rental is not included with tuition
BEGINNER STRINGS

Audition Information
Middle school to high school string musicians are invited to audition for Colorado Crossroads Youth Orchestra's
2023-2024 season.
Audition Requirements:
1. Solo: Musician's choice. Solo should showcase shifting, tone, vibrato, musicality, and rhythm. 1-minute limit. Acapella only.
2. Scale: Coordinating 1, 2, or 3-octave scale in the same key as the solo piece.
3. Sight-reading: Music and a metronome will be provided at the audition to ensure the musician is able to read music fluently.
4. Excerpts are posted at the BOTTOM of this page. Musicians should select the TWO that best showcases their ability.
* Video submissions are welcome for those that are unable to make the audition dates. Your video should include solo, scale, and excerpts. Our conductor reserves the right to set-up a video call with you for the sight-reading portion of auditions. Please email video auditions by August 21, 2023 for consideration to office@coloradocrossroadsyo.org.
Auditions will be evaluated on presentation, tone, musicality, accuracy, intonation, technique, and rhythm. A copy of the audition evaluation and comments will be available to all participating musicians.
