Director of Aria
Roxanne Matthews is a classically trained professional musician and lifelong educator with a passion for excellence. She is a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory with a Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance with graduate studies in music education at the University of Northern Colorado. She has performed with many groups including the Pueblo Symphony, the Denver Chamber Orchestra, the Denver Brass, and the Aspen Festival Orchestra. Awards received include the International Trumpet Guild, Young Musicians Foundation, Jefferson Symphony Young Artists Competition, Oberlin Conservatory Dean’s Scholarship, and the Keystone Brass Institute.
Roxanne’s passion for teaching is diverse and deep. She was a ski instructor for Vail Resorts for nine years obtaining multiple professional certifications. Her musical experience includes both individual instruction as well as directing ensembles of all ages, abilities, and instruments. In 2011, she founded the Woodrose Chamber Musicians, whose advanced student groups have been invited year after year to participate in music festivals and master classes across Colorado. Most recently she contributed to the founding of a new string program at Twelve Stones Christian School in Black Forest.
She and her husband, Patrick, are followers of Jesus Christ by His grace alone and seek to glorify Him in all that they do. They have three young adult kids who they had the privilege of home educating and instructing in the Christian faith.
