She started violin nearly 15 years ago and started piano nearly 8 years ago. In that time, she has served as concert mistress, principal second violinist, and first violinist in two full piece orchestra levels of another youth orchestra program here in Colorado Springs.

Ms. Powell holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Colorado Christian University (CCU), and is the inaugural conductor of CCYO. While at CCU, she was the concertmaster of the School of Music Chamber Strings Ensemble for all 3.5 years she lived on campus. She was also the recipient of multiple awards, such as CO Dept. of Higher Education Future Educators Honor Roll, CCU Outstanding Senior in the School of Music, placement on two CCU Dean’s Lists every single semester since her freshman spring, and multiple music scholarships.

Ms. Powell just recently accepted a position as a music teacher at Rocky Mountain Classical Academy and is excited to continue following the path God has laid out for her, supported by her amazing parents and her younger sister.
